My name is Rick Helke, in 1998 I started and operated Ricks Underground fencing up until 2021 when I had an offer to sell the company, and I sold the business.
Fast forward to now, after hearing from many of my old customers about how they missed the great service and affordable prices that I had offered, I decided to start a new company, offering the same great service at an affordable price.
One thing that I pride myself on is that I had to do minimal advertising, simply because my satisfied customers gave me so many good referrals.
What I missed the most is meeting new people and their pets. I am a dog lover, and I love knowing that because of the service I offer, dogs can run freely and safely around the yard. Theres nothing more fun than to see a pet come out of the house, get the zoomies and run crazily and safely around the yard.
We charge based on the size of your yard and the number of collars you need.
We are an independent dog fence installer, which means we don't have to charge a certain amount based upon what some corporation tells us we need to charge.
What that means is you get an electronic underground invisible fence for a fraction of the cost of the big-name brand dog fencing companies.
This invisible type of pet fencing has been around since 1973. Many changes have been made in the industry since then, but the entire premise of how they function has stayed the same.
A wire gets buried in the ground 1-3" deep. The fence wire gets buried where you, the customer, wants the dog to be contained in.
That wire is hooked up to a transmitter, usually located in the garage or the basement.
The transmitter sends a signal with a certain frequency that the collar the dog is wearing picks up and turns on when the pet gets too close to the wire. The dog first hears an audible beeping alerting them that they are getting too close to the fence. If they continue, the collar delivers a correction shock.
The correction strength is set by the customer with a push of a button located on the collar. The correction begins with tone only and increases in strength with each push of the button.
How do we get the wire across a driveway?
For gravel we use our machine and bury it directly. With concrete we use any of the expansion joints already there. We simply clean the joint with our saw and lay the wire in and then cover with a special sand that gets hard when wet and holds the wire in place.
For blacktop we would need to saw cut a joint in the blacktop to place the wire in, or if you have a culvert, we can run the wire through that.
Do the collars need a battery?
No, the collars we use are rechargeable. Other companies have a program that you need to only use their batteries, and they have to install them at an additional cost to you.
How many collars can be used on the fence system?
You can use as many collars as you need.
Who does the training
You do the training. We will give you a brief explanation on how to do it once we are done with the installation. In addition, we include a pamphlet on each step but will also give our professional advice on how to effectively train your dog. FYI - It's very easy
Does it harm the dogs
No- the correction is meant to startle the pets, similar to when you get a static shock, and it scares you. Many veterinarians endorse this type of fencing as effective and not harmful to the pet.
We have a starting price of $750 plus tax. That price includes equipment: one collar and up to 500 feet of wire-professionally installed. 500 feet generally covers about 1/3 acre. For over 500 feet of wire, the cost is an additional 30 cents per foot. Each additional collar is $130, and you can add as many collars to the fence system as you need. When we get your address, we can generally tell you an estimate online that is very close to what it would cost.
These prices are for locations up to 50 miles from KIEL WI. If further than that we will give you any additional travel costs when we find out the location.
Here are some examples of prices
These are general prices and includes one collar- each additional collar is $130 each
1/3 acre -500 feet = $750
1/2 acre - 600 feet = $780
1 Acre - 1000 feet = $900
2 acres - 1300 feet of wire = $990
Wire breaks do occur, 90% of them are usually caused by something mechanical, whether the homeowner was landscaping and accidently cut the wire, or if they have the yard aerated and the wire was broken.
Animal digging has occurred in the past but is very seldom.
If a wire break occurs, there is an audible alarm on the transmitter that lets you know that it is not functioning properly. We have a special wire locator that can help us find the break and repair it. Repairs do not affect how the system functions, unless the repair was done incorrectly.
Repairs are charged hourly based on $40 an hour which might also include drive time.
You can email us or call - or text us, we can usually give you a very close estimate by just giving us your address.
